Historic day for Christian Brothers Academy as five teams win Sectional Softball Titles

It was a historic Saturday for the Christian Brothers Academy softball team, winning their first ever Section III Softball Championship with a 9-3 win over the Altmar-Parish-Williamson Rebels. CBA's Jordan Sheridan was solid on the mound, striking out 8 batters over 7 innings to earn the win.

"It was really exciting, I was really nervous," said Sheridan, "but I had confidence in myself and especially the team around me, if they hit the ball we could do it. We wanted it so bad so, that's what we worked all year for."

While Rebels pitcher Victoria Stanton gave a good fight on the mound by striking out seven, the Brothers senior leadership shined through with a potent offense when they needed it the most.

"The three seniors have been with me for five years," said head coach Greg Jewett, "and we hadn't won a sectional game in four years, and to have a run like this as the 11th seed and to beat 4 consecutive state ranked teams is just beyond words."

The Jamesville Dewitt Red Rams were titled Class A Champions with a 5-0 win over the Oneida Indians.

The Hamilton Emerald Knights took the Class A title with a 6-2 win over Alexandria Bay.

The Sandy Creek Comets defeated the Bishop Ludden Gaelic Knights 5-0. The Comets take the Class C Championship title.

The Cicero-North Syracuse Northstars earn the Class AA Championship after beating their rivals, the Liverpool Warriors 12-0. Brittany Paul hit a solo homerun for the Northstars.
