Hotly contested battles the story of Friday night high school hoops

In about a month, every game in Section III high school hoops will be do or die, but as high school teams play through the meat of their 2012-2013 seasons, now is the time the top seeds are decided.

Westhill traveled to Bishop Grimes in one of the most highly anticipated matchups on the night. Each team with only one loss in conference brought an exciting atmosphere to Bishop Grimes High School. Each team had a solid first quarter, but by only scoring four points in the second quarter, Grimes could never recover. Westhill pulled out the 55-44 victory, staying on top in the division.

West Genesee withheld a big early second half push at Henninger, but could not come out on top, falling by just three points to Henninger, 62-59.

Jamesville-Dewitt jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back at East Syracuse-Minoa, coasting to a 66-54 victory.

In high school girls hoops, Marcellus visited Bishop Ludden, each team looking to rise up the conference ranks. At 6-2, Marcellus was looking to improve on their 2-1 conference record, while Ludden, at 3-5 on the season, was looking to improve on their 2-3 conference record. Ludden pulled off the upset, using a 25-15 halftime lead to guide them to a 54-47 win.
