It's a banner year for Cazenovia High School Athletics

It's something Cazenovia High School Athletic Director Mike Byrnes told me he didn't expect in his wildest dreams. The Lakers, who coming into the 2010-2011 school year had never won any team state championships, have now won 2, with potentially a third on the way.

Back in the fall the field hockey team won it all, Sunday the hockey team made it two in one year and this weekend the girls basketball team heads to Glens Falls to try for the trifecta.

Below is our article from Cazenovia's State Title Victory.

It was a long time coming, but absolutely worth the wait. The Cazenovia Hockey team took out Williamsville East from the Buffalo area 6-2 Sunday, earning the school's first ever boys state championship. Ironically, the school earned its first ever state title in any team sport in the fall when the field hockey team won it all.

Caz took a 4-0 lead and never looked back, and in the process completed a dream season at 25-0. The State Title celebration was something out of a movie, with a huge pile-on, a victory lap with the New York-shaped trophy, and yes, a whipped cream pie to the faces of those being interviewed.

Congratulations to the Cazenovia Lakers, New York State Division II Hockey Champions!
