J-D Girls Basketball off to State Championship game
The Red Rams just keep rolling.
Jamesville-DeWitt rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to rout Elmont Memorial 70-42 in the Class A New York State Semifinals on Friday at Hudson Valley Community College.
J-D was on fire in the third quarter, outscoring Elmont 24-6, cruising in the fourth 17-3 en route to the big win.
Meg Hair led the way with 27 points, Jamie Boeheim scored 19 while Julia Kelner chipped in with 14.
"It started on the defensive end" Hair said after the game.
"(Coach) Siechen came at us and said we're going to play zone, we did that, got stops, and that turned into our offense" she adds.
J-D won the 2016 New York State Championship and would certainly cement their status in history with a repeat.
For Boeheim, Friday's win was a little more sweet.
Both her parents, Jim and Juli were in attendance on the heels of disappointment with Jim's Syracuse Orange being left out of the NCAA Tournament.
"It's been a rough past week with SU getting in the NIT but we're just grateful, me and my brother are actually both at states so I think it's really good for my dad and my family" says Jamie.
J-D advances to play Pittsford Mendon for the New York State Championship.
