Wednesday was a special day for Jamesville - Dewitt High School soccer phenom Jessica Holmes and her family as she signed her national letter of intent to play at Boston College. Holmes has helped lead the Red Rams for four years, and says signing day was filled with lots of emotion.
"I feel very excited and it feels very relieving to finally get all this stress off my shoulders of the recruiting process . It feels really good."
According to Holmes, the campus, her future teammates, the deep connection she found with the coach, and wanting to stay closer to home are all factors that she considered in making her decision to choose Boston College.
Holmes has had to persevere through the sudden death of her ten year old brother in December, and says she plays hard for him and to honor his memory.
"H e had multiple disabilities , missing half his brain, blind, deaf and had Cerebral palsy, he c ouldn't walk or talk and seeing someone like that every single day motivated you to want more and more and just made you not want to take anything for granted."
She had a picture of herself holding her little brother in front of her as she signed her letter of intent. She will join her Boston College teammates this fall.
