Liverpool holds off Rochester Aquinas in boys hoops, OCC men and women remain red hot

Liverpool's Charles Pride converts on a free throw in the first half, helping the Warriors to a 54-51 win over Rochester Aquinas on Saturday.

Ryan Blackwell and the Liverpool Warriors are in a pursuit to play the best teams across New York State.

The Warriors spent the first half of the season taking on out-of-area teams such as Bishop Kearney, Rochester Aquinas and University Prep.

On Saturday, Liverpool hosted Aquinas in a rare 3 p.m. start time.

The Warriors raced out to the 14-6 lead after the first quarter, but watched the Lil' Irish mount a comeback in the second half.

Behind Liverpool junior Charles Pride (12 points), though, the Warriors were able to hold off Aquinas en route to the 54-51 win.

The Onondaga Community College men's and women's basketball programs have been as hot as any at the JUCO level this season.

The OCC women are ranked No. 4 in the nation, while the men hold down America's top spot.

The Lazers dominated Tompkins Cortland Community College, 83-58. Meanwhile, the men routed TC3, 103-63.
