Liverpool, Jamesville-DeWitt and Westhill boys punch tickets to State Final Four

Buddy Boeheim poured in 40 points to help lift Jamesville-DeWitt to a Regional Championship on Saturday afternoon.

For the third consecutive weekend, Onondaga Community College was the place to be for high school basketball, as the regional championships were held from both SRC Arena and Allyn Hall, respectively.

Section III boys teams played from SRC Arena, while the section's girls teams played from Allyn Hall.

The Liverpool boys were able to cruise past Bethlehem out of Section II, 78-64. Warriors junior forward Nahjeir Johnson went for a game-high 29 points to help lift Liverpool to the Class AA Final Four.

In Class A, Jamesville-DeWitt rode the hot shooting of junior guard Buddy Boeheim, en route to a 65-62 win over Lansingsburgh out of Section II.

Boeheim poured in a game-high 40 points, allowing the Red Rams to jump out to a double-digit lead early on.

However, Lansingsburgh did not go down without a fight, cutting the deficit to a single point with under 10 seconds remaining. J-D senior Matt Carlin was then fouled, as two shots awaited him at the charity stripe.

Carlin knocked down both free throws to give J-D the three-point lead. At the other end, Lansingsburgh three-pointer was off the mark, securing the win for the Red Rams.

In Class B, Westhill continued its dominant play into Saturday's matchup with Norwich in the regional final.

The Warriors were lead by five double-digit scorers, highlighted by Sean Dadey's 16 points. Additionally, Zechariah Brown chipped in with 13 points, while John Geer (11 points), Braeden Elmer (10 points) and Antonio Scrimale (10 points) also led the way.

Westhill punched its ticket to the Class B Final Four, 73-54.

On the girls side, West Genesee brought its momentum into Saturday's Class AA matchup with Shenendehowa out of Section II.

The Wildcats trailed early, 8-4, and struggled to catch up. Shen attacked with its height and length, en route to a 48-31 victory.

In Class A, the Jamesville-DeWitt girls earned a 52-47 win over Averill Park of Section II.

The Red Rams were led by Meg Hair's 17 points, while Jamie Boeheim (10 points) and Angela Bussone (10 points) chipped in, in the winning effort.

J-D held the early lead, but was able to hold off a pesky Averill Park squad that mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter.

In Class B, Bishop Ludden met Seton Catholic of Binghamton in the regional final.

The Gaelic Knights struggled to score against the quickness of Seton Catholic, which ended up hurting them at the end.

Behind Danielle Rauch's 25 points, Ludden was able to chip away and cut it to a one possession game. However, that's when Seton Catholic was able to fend off the Gaelic Knights.

In the end, Ludden had came up short of the state final four, 70-61.
