The Liverpool Warriors have been hard at work all week preparing for the 2012 season. It was a tough end to last season, losing a hard fought game to F-M in the section III quarterfinals, a game that they let go of in the late going. This year's team is looking to finish what they started, and they'll finally get their first opportunity to see how far they've come this Saturday morning when they scrimmage with CBA. Head Coach David Mancuso says he knows exactly what the team needs to do to be successful this year.
oing the little things right," explains Mancuso, "and
whether it's discipline or finishing a sprint, (or) whether it's off the field on the field, being to class on time, things like that, our best teams are the kids that do the little things right."
The seniors have spent a good part of their summer preparing to get their new roles right. Mancuso says the coaching staff has been working with them on what they need to do to be affective leaders.
f you're gonna be a leader you've got to really step up,
says senior tight end and linebacker Dillon Springer, "you've got to get your voice heard. You've got to be loud because all 60 guys have got to be able to hear you, you've kind of got to be that guy sometimes to get everybody going."
eading the younger kids," continues Dustin Springer, Dillon's twin brother and fellow senior tight end and linebacker, "the sophomore and juniors and other kids here to give it their all for your last hurrah. If you have everyone focussed and determined and get rid of the kids that run their mouths then you can do good things."
