It was a night that will go down in Jamesville-Dewitt basketball history, as Coach Bob McKenney and senior guard Jafar Kinsey both notched career milestones. The Red Rams also honored the rest of the seniors with a senior night celebration.
The Red Rams beat Chittenango 76-38, but the first celebration came when Jafar Kinsey hit a three-point basket in the fourth quarter, his 23rd point in the game, and 1002nd point in his career.
"I just feel honored because being under those names like Brandon Triche, DaJuan Coleman, Tyler Cavanaugh, Adonis Kinsey, just, I feel like it's a huge accomplishment," Kinsey, who scored 23 points, said after the game.
Then, as the clocked ticked to zero, the Red Rams athletes, tried (but failed) to shower their coach Bob McKenney with water from the Gatorade jug, as he notched his 500th victory coaching varsity basketball.
"Well, 500 wins, that means God blessed me with a lot of years of coaching, and I've been blessed with a lot of great players, and great kids, and I want to thank all of them," a beaming McKenney said after the game.
