Sandy Creek Softball preparing for historic run to New York State Final Four

The Sandy Creek softball team will meet Pine Plains in the NYSPHSAA, Class C State Semifinals on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

The Sandy Creek softball team is in the midst of a banner year, hoping to keep the momentum rolling into the New York State Final Four this weekend from Moreau Recreational Park in Fort Edward, New York.

The Comets are led by a senior pitcher, Carley Stoker, who recorded 14 strikeouts in Sandy Creek's regional win over Elmira Edison last week.

"[We're] just continuing to play Comets Softball and kind of do what we've been doing all year. I think the only thing that would hurt us is kind of getting nervous and not doing what we've been doing all year. So, I think if we stick to that, we'll be alright."

"At this point in the season, we're not looking at recreating the wheel or making big changes," Sandy Creek coach Katie Soluri explained. "We're really just fine-tuning and tweaking things in practices."

The Comets enter the New York State Semifinals with a 20-1 overall record.
