Spring Break lacrosse featuring Central New York's best

F-M's Donovan Welsh scores on a wild behind the back goal against Baldwinsville (Matt Hauswirth)

Spring Break is certainly a week off from classes for every student in Central New York, but for lacrosse players it means a little bit more.

It's a chance to test your mettle against the rest of the Empire State.

It's an opportunity to play day games and perhaps more importantly, travel to play teams normally too far away.

Case and point, CBA Girls Lacrosse, fresh off a New York State title is heading to Long Island Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the CBA boys welcomed Iona Prep from Downstate, falling in a heartbreaker 12-11. Not the outcome Ric Beardsley's bunch would like, but it's a game that will pay dividends for his team down the road.

Locally, some powerhouses butted heads.

F-M, fresh off its only loss of the season over the weekend (to West Genesee), bounced back in a major way clobbering previously-unbeaten Baldwinsville 17-5.

Donovan Welsh scored 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists) in game that Head Coach Chris Kenneally predicts will spark a Baldwinsville run in the weeks to come.

Elsewhere, rivals Liverpool and C-NS squared off with the Warriors defending home turf in dramatic fashion with a 10-9 win.

Here are some other scores from around Section III:

J-D 15, Cazenovia 5

West Genesee 15, Syracuse 7

ESM 15, Fulton 6

Westhill 15, New Hartford 5

Tully 13, Bishop Ludden 10
