Watch: F-M comes back to beat Henninger, highlighting night of high school hoops

John Schurman throws down a slam dunk against Henninger on Friday night.

The Fayetteville-Manlius Hornets (1-0) beat the Henninger Black Knights (0-1) 62-58 in the Peppino's Invitational on Friday night.

F-M senior John Schurman scored 20 points in the second half, totaling 30 in the contest.

The biggest momentum swing of the game came when Schurman hit a midrange jump shot to give F-M the lead. On their next possession, Romero Collier fouled Schurman at the top of the key. Unhappy with the call, Collier was given a technical foul after an emotional outburst, with F-M ending up with a 49-46 lead and the ball in the fourth quarter.

Moments later, Schurman stole the ball on defense, took it the length of the court, and rocked the rim to increase the lead. He followed that with a three pointer on the next possession. Those possessions resulted in a 15-0 run, ending Henninger's chances at a comeback.

The Hornets move to 1-0 in 2013, while the Black Knights fall to 0-1. But, Henninger has a chance to bounce back, as they host Bishop Ludden Saturday night at 6:00 p.m.
