52 Wins And Counting: Syracuse extends win streak over Colgate behind Battle's 24
Syracuse and Colgate met for the 170th time in their storied history on Saturday afternoon.
Entering the contest, the Orange had not lost to the Raiders in 51 tries.
After Saturday's game, that aforementioned number would increase to 52.
Colgate kept it interesting, though, shooting 40 percent from three-point territory, while Jack Ferguson poured in a team-high 20 points off the bench, shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc after sinking six three-pointers.
But behind Tyus Battle's game-high 24 points, the Orange seemed to keep the Raiders at bay throughout, leading to the 72-58 win.
Oshae Brissett (20 points, 5 rebounds) and Frank Howard (18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) also chipped in to the winning effort.
"We've got a lot of work to do, to get to be a better team," Syracuse head men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim said during his post game press conference. "We're a long ways from there right now. But you've got to give Colgate a lot of credit with the way they moved the ball. They made some shots."
The Orange, now 8-1 overall on the year, will next visit Georgetown in a classic Big East rivalry from the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and will be nationally televised on CBS.
