For the third consecutive year, Syracuse and North Carolina met with the ACC Tournament Championship on the line.

Last year, the Tar Heels were able to edge out the Orange on their way to a National Championship run. However, the year before, it was Syracuse defeating North Carolina en route to the league title.

This year, North Carolina was favored as the top-seeded team in the conference tournament. Syracuse earned the No. 2 seed.

The Orange started fast on Sunday, scoring the first four goals of the game, but failed to sustain the lead. The Tar Heels mounted a furious rally to take the 7-6 lead going into the halftime break.

In the second half, Carolina outscored the Orange, 11-5.

In the end, the Tar Heels had gotten the better of the Orange, with the ACC Tournament Championship on the line, 18-11.

The loss should not affect Syracuse's chance to make the NCAA Tournament. However, it will hurt its seeding.

The NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament bracket will be revealed Sunday, May 7 at 9 p.m.
