SU Athletic Director John Wildhack comments on Dick MacPherson's legacy
The Syracuse University athletic department held an open media session on Wednesday morning, headlined by Dick MacPherson's two grandson's (Macky and Cameron).
However, SU athletic director John Wildhack also took time to comment on the sudden death of an iconic Orange coach.
"One of the things for me was reading last night on social media just the outpouring from the fans -- was really, really impactful to me," Wildhack stressed. "It showed me that this was a man that touched the people he came in contact with and came in touch with. I think the couple of words that I would describe him with is authentic and genuine ... with everyone."
Wildhack went on to say he was a student at Syracuse University while MacPherson served as the school's head football coach.
MacPherson finished with 111 wins from 1981-1990, which is second-most in program history.
Wildhack is appreciative of MacPherson's contributions.
"There's a legacy here and his legacy lives forever," he concluded.
