Syracuse Basketball adds East Carolina transfer Elijah Hughes

East Carolina freshman Elijah Hughes chose to transfer out of the program, making his announcement to attend Syracuse on Twitter.

Jim Boeheim has been active on the recruiting front this offseason.

However, this time, Boehiem landed a player who chose to transfer out of his previous program.

Elijah Hughes, a 6'6, 220-pound shooting guard out of Beacon, New York (roughly two hours from New York City), made his decision to transfer to Syracuse on Thursday.

Hughes will need to sit out for the entirety of the 2017-18 season due to NCAA transfer guidelines, but will have three years of eligibility remaining after that.

The scoring guard averaged 7.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game last year at East Carolina.

The addition of Hughes leaves the Orange with only two open scholarships on the roster, with several key targets on the radar as the summer approaches.
