Syracuse draws UNC Greensboro in opening round of 2017 NIT
It did not take long following the news of Syracuse missing out on the 2017 NCAA Tournament when the Orange found out its fate for the post season.
Syracuse was invited to the 2017 National Invitation Tournament, and will get underway on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
The Orange will face UNC Greensboro in the 1-versus-8 matchup.
It's ironic that Syracuse will face UNC Greensboro due to Jim Boeheim's comments following last week's loss to Miami in the ACC Tournament. Boeheim claimed that there was no benefit to playing the league tournament in Greensboro, and that he would instead like to see it be played from bigger cities such as New York, Washington or Atlanta.
The City of Greensboro fired back via Twitter:
UNC Greensboro finished 25-9 overall this season and atop the Southern Conference, but lost in its league tournament, failing to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
The Spartans are led by three players scoring in double figures, led by Francis Alonso with 15.3 points per game.
If the Orange win Tuesday, it will next host the winner of Monmouth and Ole Miss.
