Baldwinsville Central School District to hold mental health conference

Baldwinsville, N.Y. -- The Baldwinsville Central School District and its Mental Wellness Committee have scheduled a mental health mini-conference for the community on Tuesday, May 1, in the Baker High School auditorium, 29 East Oneida Street, Baldwinsville.

The event will go from 6:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

The keynote speaker for the conference is acclaimed young adult author Jeff Zentner. He will discuss his highly regarded debut novel, The Serpent King, and how his text can be used to start challenging conversations with children.

The keynote address will be followed by two workshop sessions, with one going from 7-7:30 p.m. and the other from 7:45 - 8:15 p.m.

These workshops will address how to use literature to spark challenging dialogue with students at all grade levels.

They will also address other important mental health issues, such as teen dating violence and consent, body image, and social media and self-esteem.
