Want to cook like we did at the NYS Fair? Here's Laura's recipe

This 'recipe' uses a basic base, but with some key ingredient changes it makes a whole new dish, quickly!

FOR STARTS:

  1. Slice, or dice onions and brown in olive oil
  2. Optional, add sliced or button mushrooms, cook til tender
  3. Drain, remove from pan, re-use flavored oil.
  4. Prepare 'base': pasta, noodle, or bread (toast?)

A. Beef

  1. Brown beef strips (about 1/4 lb per person), add oil if needed
  2. Add in 1 can cream of mushroom soup.
  3. When bubbly, add in starters
  4. Dust with dried parsley
  5. You can add Water Chestnuts, Worcestershire Sauce for tang, or try a pinch of nutmeg
  6. serve over your choice of starch

B. Chicken or Ham

  1. Dice & heat cubed leftovers, or thick slice of deli meat, or cook chicken in oil
  2. Stir in can of condensed mushroom soup, when bubbly add in starters
  3. Gently stir in peas/carrots and water chestnuts
  4. serve over your choice of starch

C. Shrimp (or Eggplant as vegetarian option)

  1. Brown pepper strips and garlic to taste
  2. Brown shrimp (if fresh cook completely),
  3. Add crushed tomatoes (thicken with corn starch) or prepared spaghetti sauce
  4. Add in starters, serve over choice of starch

Insalata Russa (‘Russian’ Salad)

  1. Drain cold peas/carrots (leftovers from B above?)
  2. Coat with mayonnaise, add water chestnuts
  3. You can flavor the mustard with curry or nutmeg
  4. add cold shrimp, crab or lobster lumps to make more substantial
