Inside the numbers: NYS Fair attendance on all-time record pace

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Entering the last day of the New York State Fair, attendance is at an all-time high through 11 days; up almost 21% from last year.

Through 11 days the 2016 running of the NYS Fair has already had nearly one million people come to the fair, with some 999,033 people attending so far. With that in mind, it's almost certain that attendance for the 2016 NYS Fair will not only eclipse the 1 million mark, but also set the all-time record for attendance for the 12-day event.

The all-time record was set back in 2001 when 1,011,248 attended the Fair. To set a new record, just 12,216 people need to attend the fair today.

In all practicality, the only record that is in doubt of being set this year is attendance during a single day at the Fair. This year's running came close to the record - 122,870 people on Labor Day in 2014 - when it had 121,164 come through the gates on Saturday.

Some more attendance nuggets:

Attendance eclipsed 100,000 people for three consecutive days from Friday-Sunday this year, marking just the fourth time this has happened in the 168 times the Fair has been run.

In all of those years there has never been four straight days of attendance reaching over 100,000 people. As mentioned above, Labor Day has seen large crowds in the past - setting the record for single-day attendance in 2014 - there is a chance this year could beat the record for most consecutive days of 100,000-plus attendance.

Here is a breakdown of attendance at the Fair so far this year:
