Police: Erratic driving preceded rollover crash in Syracuse; driver charged with DWI
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Syracuse Police say a Manlius man faces DWI and other charges after a rollover crash overnight.
It happened on Erie Boulevard East, near Water Street, just after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Witnesses told police the driver of the vehicle was driving erratically through the city's east side before he hit a curb and several street signs. The collision caused the vehicle to rollover several times.
Police say the driver, identified as 32-year-old John Coyne of Manlius, then crawled out of the car and tried to leave the scene. He was caught after a brief foot pursuit, police said.
Coyne was arrested for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Driving While Intoxicated and other traffic infractions, police said.
