CBS5's February Educator of Excellence: ESM's Michael Ferris

February Educator of Excellence

March 7th, 2018 — Each month we ask you to nominate a teacher, principal or staff member at a local school to be our 'Educator of Excellence.' Our winner for the month of February is Michael Ferris from East Syracuse Minoa Central High School.

Ferris has been a teacher for 22 years. Right now he teaches technology at the high school and leads the 'The Morning Show' each weekday. Students come in early every day to tape a news show for the school.

Executive Principal Greg Avellino says, "Mike is a great guy. He connects with our students. He makes relationships with our kids. He is here early in the morning. We are a late school so our day begins at 8:55 a.m. However, the morning show kids have to be here by 8 o'clock."

Ferris received a plaque from all of us at CBS5 and a golden apple pin from Reeds Jewelers.

You can nominate an educator who has made an impact in your life. In your submission, tell us why you think they deserve to be recognized in 100 words or less.
