CBS5's January Educator of Excellence: Syracuse City School District's Mary Mastin
February 7th, 2018 —Each month we ask you at to nominate a teacher, principal, or staff member at a local school to be our next 'Educator of Excellence.' Our January winner is Mary Mastin from Ed Smith Pre-K-8 @ Levy in the Syracuse City School District.
Mary Mastin is a Special Education teacher and works in an integrated co-teaching Kindergarten classroom. The classroom she is in has students of all abilities included in one classroom. Mary works alongside the regular education teacher. The district says her role is so important and she deserves to be recognized.
Principal Sam Barber says, "Mary is a dedicated teacher. She is dedicated to her students. She will be here morning, noon, and night. She will come in here with me on weekends if I am going to be here to make sure things are ready for the kids. I couldn't ask for a more dedicated professional."
She received a plaque from all of us at CBS5 and a golden apple pendant from Reeds Jewelers.
Don't forget that you can nominate an Educator who has made an impact on your life. Submit here now and in 100 words or less tell us why they deserve to be recognized!
