CBS5's October Educator of Excellence: West Genesee's Shannon Coholan

Allison Bybee honors West Genesee 12th Grade Principal

Shannon Coholan thought it was a regular meeting with the Community Service Group she oversees at West Genesee High School, but she was interrupted by CBS5's Allison Bybee. Allison honored her with the October 'Educator of Excellence' Award from CBS5 and Reeds Jewelers.

Coholan said, "I am completely shocked. I am honored. I have the opportunity to work with such amazing students and staff and colleagues at West Genesee. I am just honored to come to work everyday. I am shocked!"

She was nominated by our viewers.

Superintendent Dr. Chris Brown said Coholan has been the 12th Grade Principal for 2.5 years. In that time, Dr. Brown said she has helped increase the graduation rate and student attendance.

Coholan received a plaque from all of us at CBS5 and a golden apple pendant from Reeds Jewelers.
