Pets for adoption to 'show' at Home & Garden Show

Dixie, an older beagle, is one of the dogs who'll be at the Home and Garden Show--it's an effort by several rescue groups to showcase adoptable pets

This year's Central NY Home & Garden Show will also be a showcase for rescue groups that are trying to get pets into forever homes.

The show, at the State Fairgrounds, runs Thursday to Sunday, and different animal groups will be presenting animals for adoption. Pet advocate Nancy Hohler, on Weekend Today in Central NY on Sunday morning, told us that the showcase is also a way for animal help groups to reach more people

We met Dixie, an 11 year old Beagle who's had surgery to remove a leg (she gets by just fine on 3!)...she is one of the dogs that will be meeting and greeting.

Here's the schedule for the pet sessions:

Friday, March 16, noon-7pm: Animal Misfits Rescue & Sanctuary
Saturday, March 17 10am-2pm: Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter
Saturday, March 17 2-7pm: Barnard's Beagles (this is where Dixie is, right now)
Sunday, March 18 10am-5pm: Animal Alliance of Greater Syracuse has more on State Fair events
