Victim in Saturday night South Avenue shooting identified as 19-year-old Rahmeir Barnett

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The victim of a shooting Saturday night on the 1500 block of South Avenue has been identified as 19-year-oldRahmeir Barnett.

A 19-year-old man has died after getting shot in the midsection multiple times, according to the Syracuse Police Department.

He was taken by private vehicle to the hospital to be treated and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Police had been called to Upstate just before midnight to investigate.

Syracuse Police reports there was also a 16-year-old girl that had a graze wound on her arm from the same incident, which occurred on the 1500 block of South Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who has information is asked to contact the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-522.
