2018 'On My Own Time' getting underway

On My Own Time, which encourages artistically-inclined employees workers to exhibit their talents, is starting the process of getting artwork for the fall exhibition

This Autumn, the Everson Museum will once again mount an exhibit of artwork created by employees of local businesses. The 45th annual On My Own Time, developed in partnership with CNYArts, is a way to encourage creativity in the workplace and to support arts and culture in the community.

Getting to the October exhibit is a long process:

>This Thursday (Feb 22): the kickoff lunch presents information to participating companies (People cannot enter singly, they must be 'sponsored' by their employers)

>April 30: Deadline for employers to register for On My Own Time

>April-June: Employers hold in-house art shows, 'judges' visit and select pieces for the Everson exhibit

>October 13-November 19: On My Own Time exhibit, Everson Museum

The exhibit typically includes a diverse and unique selection of paintings, ceramics, wood, metal, and glass work, jewelry, photography, sculpture, textiles, and more.

In 2017, 136 amateur artists from 16 local employers exhibited their works.
