Acting Texas police chief arrested for tampering with government documents
MOORE COUNTY, T.X. —
The Acting Police Chief in Sunray Texas was arrested Friday for tampering with government documents, law enforcement officials say.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers and the FBI arrested Joseph Flores at about 3 p.m. in Dumas on Friday for tampering with a governmental document.
However, authorities were not able to confirm the charges are related to the ongoing double murder homicide investigation of the former Sunray Police Chief Timothy Dean, 32, his wife Charlene Childers,25, or former Sunray police officer Bron Bohlar.
Investigators say Childers conspired with Dean to kill Joshua Niles and Amber Washburn.
A criminal complaint alleges Childers helped Dean rent a car to drive from Texas to New York to kill Niles. The couple was shot to death outside their home in Sodus on Oct. 22. Investigators have also charged Bohlar with conspiracy.
Bohlar is being held in Texas without bail awaiting extradition to Wayne County.
