The crowds of people swarming Build-A-Bears across the country looking for a deal proved too much to bear, forcing stores in the U.S. to close off the lines early, including in Syracuse.

The line of people looking to take advantage of the store's "Pay Your Age" deal at Destiny USA Thursday morning was so long it wrapped around the mall's food court.

Some parents in line said they had already waited for more than two hours to get into the store, but added they'd do "anything for the kids!"

Syracuse wasn't alone in its Build-A-Bear enthusiasm; long lines formed at stores around the country.

However the lines apparently got too long: Build-A-Bear updated its website for the promotion with the following message on Thursday:

Per local authorities, we cannot accept additional Guests at our U.S. Build-A-Bear Workshop locations due to crowd and safety concerns

We have closed lines in our U.S. stores. We understand some of our Guests are disappointed and we will reach out directly as soon as possible.

Officials at Destiny USA confirmed Thursday afternoon a "corporate decision" by Build-A-Bear had led to the location in the mall to close off the line early.

A Destiny USA spokesperson said the store was handing out vouchers for a $15 discount to those who couldn't wait in line and the mall itself was giving out free rides on the Carousel as early as 9:30 a.m., before the store made the decision to close.
