Auburn woman dies after being struck by multiple vehicles in Cicero, deputies say
CICERO, N.Y. —
An Auburn woman has died after being struck by multiple vehicles in Cicero Thursday night.
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says it happened on Route 298, between E. Taft Road and Areopagitica Ave. just before 5:30 p.m. when the woman, identified as Heather Lardeo, 26, walked to a nearby business to seek help after her truck drove off the road unexpectedly.
When she returned to her vehicle, Lardeo was struck by multiple vehicles traveling on Route 298, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies said the call for help initially came in as a disabled vehicle complaint. Upon arrival, deputies found Lardeo, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was shut down for nearly four hours.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. No tickets were issued.
