Autumnal assault on tap for Friday, this weekend and beyond
Good morning! Here is what you need to know before you go so you can plan ahead for today.
As expected, temperatures are cooler this morning. Most spots should drop into the upper 40s to near 50 by mid-morning and hold there for the rest of the morning. Skies this morning will be rather cloudy with a risk for occasional light rain showers and sprinkles. There is a chance for localized breaks of sunshine. It will be breezy. Wind: WNW 10 increasing to 13 to 17 with gusts to 20 to 30 MPH.
For the afternoon, expect considerable cloudiness with passing sprinkles or light showers with peeks of sun in between. It will remain breezy. Afternoon temperatures will be much colder than what we have been used to. Afternoon numbers should range in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Wind: WNW 10-17 with gusts to 20 to 30 MPH.
I have attached a video forecast showing an hour-by-hour progression of today’s weather hour-by-hour and place-by-place across central New York.
For tonight into Saturday morning, a combination of a regular weather system and lake effect moisture will create areas of cold rain late tonight. Much of central and southern New York will have wet weather later tonight. When you wake up Saturday morning, numbers will range in the upper 30s to lower 40s. That will make it a raw and wet start to Saturday morning. While our local area will just have cold rain, the highest elevations of the Catskills, Tug Hill Plateau, and may have some wet snow from this system!
For the rest of Saturday, expect localized lake effect rain early across Oswego and northern Oneida counties to move southward across much of the rest of the immediate CNY and break up in to scattered lake effect rain showers. A few peeks of sun will try to come out from time to time. Otherwise, expect another breezy day with cool temperatures again.
Numbers will get down to levels not seen in 5 months! My forecast high for Syracuse on Saturday is 50°. My forecast low for Sunday morning is 38°. These numbers have not been seen since May. See the graphic below:
I have attached another video forecast showing the Dog Walking Forecast, the weekend outlook, the Fall Foliage forecast for this weekend, and the forecast for the home opener for the Syracuse Crunch hockey team.
