Breezy, extra clouds & tracking some showers for parts of our area today into Wednesday

Good morning! Here is what you need to know before you go.

Temperatures around sunrise are mainly be between 64 and 70. However, the coolest countryside locations are between 59 and 64. Numbers should rise into the middle 70s by the end of the morning.

We are monitoring a storm system over the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley that will track the heaviest rain showers and thunderstorms northwest and west of our immediate area for today and tonight.

Skies this morning, you will notice the most cloud coverage across the central and southern tier near and south of Route 20. Elsewhere, cloud cover will try and mix with some intervals of sunshine at times. There is an opportunity for a passing shower or sprinkle or two in the immediate CNY area later this morning or by Noon. The highest risk for extra rain showers later this morning through Noon will be west of the I-81 corridor over the Finger Lakes region and points west.

These showers will move east and out of our area during the afternoon temporarily and likely give way to drier conditions for a little while.

For tonight, we have a better chance for more in the way of scattered showers and thunderstorms with some isolated heavier downpours over parts of our area.

I have attached a video forecast showing an hour-by-hour progression of today’s weather hour-by-hour and place-by-place across central New York.

Localized areas near Lodi and Pulaski need to be aware of any scattered heavier downpours and thunderstorms as it would only take about 1 inch of rain in 1 hour to cause new flash flooding. While the best chance for heaviest rain will be in western New York and southern Ontario (outside of our area), the atmosphere tonight will be quite humid and chock full of moisture. This means that any localized showers or thunderstorms will have a lot of moisture to work with. We will watch these individual scattered showers and thunderstorms to see if they cross these areas or not during the time frame described above.

You can watch them too on Interactive Doppler Radar and Live Triple Doppler Radar. If any flood advisories or warnings are issued for imminent flooding danger, we will alert you on-air, online, and on our CNYcentral Mobile App.

The first day of the Great New York State Fair is tomorrow! I have attached another video forecast showing you the Dog Walking forecast, the forecast for Opening Day of the Great New York State Fair, and the forecast for two of the Chevy Court concerts.
