Car into house, 2 families displaced

2 families are being helped by the Red Cross after a car crashed into their home on Syracuse's Hawley Ave early Saturday morning

Syyracuse Police have made a drunk driving arrest, after a car crashed into a house on Syracuse's near north side early Saturday morning.

Michael Carmona, 32, from Robinson Street in syracuse is charged. Police say he lost control of his vehicle about 2am and hit a utility pole, then crashed into the two family home at 1010 Hawley Avenue.

He's due in Traffic Court to answer charges.

Four people were home at the time, and the two families are out of their homes.

Well into the morning, utility crews were still at the scene, and the structural soundness of the building is still being checked. The house, the first in a row of homes just north of 690.

The Red Cross says one family is being put up in a hotel, the other is finding housing on its own. Both will get emergency food, clothing and other necessities
