CNY businesses get their time to shine in 9th annual 'Buy Local Bash'

About 30 food and drink vendors set up shop to wow the crowd with their products during the 8th annual "Buy Local Bash."

Around six new vendors made their debut at the event, including Syracha'Cuse. The Baldwinsville company specializes in hot sauce and mustards made with local ingredients and named after local spots in the city.

Products from the company, now in its second year, can be ordered online and found in some specialty shops in Central New York. A father-daughter team started the business two years ago while she was attending SUNY Cortland.

"I wanted to do something that we can stay connected and teach her about marketing and business,"Mike Sharlow said. "So we explored some options as any entrepreneur would do, and we decided on getting in the hot sauce and mustard business. We are local foodies and we like spicy hot foods, so it was kinda a natural thing for us to expand on that."

The "Buy Local Bash" (running until 9 p.m. Monday) presents itself as a great place to support local businesses like Syracha'Cuse and perhaps even get some holiday shopping done.
