SYRACUSE, N.Y. — You will no longer have to show proof of a negative COVID test to visit a loved one in a nursing home. The New York State Health Department dropped that requirement and issued new guidance on Friday.
The agency recommends nursing home facilities screen people for COVID symptoms and post signs throughout the facility about signs to watch for. It also suggests the nursing homes use masks and hand washing.
Facilities in counties with high levels of transmission are encouraged to offer testing.
Loretto says it will no longer require proof of testing before visiting loved ones, but will "continue to require visitors to follow our standard infection control protocols including wearing masks at all times while there are still instances of COVID cases in our county."
