Crews Battle Northside Fire in Syracuse

Firefighters search for cause of blaze at northside home

Syracuse firefighters are investigating a fire at a home on the city’s northside.

According to Onondaga County 911 dispatchers, the call came in around 9:49 Friday morning for a fire at 144 Greenland Drive, between Grant Boulevard and Harold Street.

Officials say the fire started in the basement. Two people inside were alerted by smoke detectors and escaped to safety.

It took crews about 20 minutes to get the flames under control.

One person was treated at the scene by AMR for minor injuries.

The cause is unknown.
