Cuomo orders flags lowered for NYS trooper killed in Steuben County
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has ordered that flags at all state government buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of State Police Trooper Nicholas F. Clark, who died in the line of duty Monday morning in Steuben County.
Investigators said Clark was among several law enforcers responding to a report of a suicidal person at a home on Welch Road in the Town of Erwin at about 3:30 a.m.
State police said Clark was shot and killed while responding to the incident; the subject of the incident was later found deceased with a gunshot wound.
The governor's office said that flags will be lowered until Trooper Clark's interment.
Cuomo was present at a press conference with investigating officers on Monday afternoon.
"To the Clark family — to his mother, his father, his brother — we hope you find peace in this senseless act of violence," Cuomo said.
