Victim of deadly crash in Onondaga identified

Deadly crash in the Town of Onondaga under investigation

A deadly crash in the Town of Onondaga is currently under investigation, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office has identified the driver as 21-year-old Devon Pierce of Tully.

The crash occurred at 4:48 a.m. in the 3900 block of Kennedy Road, deputies said.

An SUV was travelling south on Kennedy Road when the driver drove off the west side of the road, struck a tree and rolled over, according to the sheriff's office.

The involved tree fell and knocked down nearby wires. The arcing wires resulted in the vehicle catching fire, trapping and killing Pierce, deputies said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
