DeFrancisco racking up endorsements for NY governor from area county GOP committee chairs
State Sen. John DeFrancisco received nine endorsements for New York governor from regional county Republican Committee chairs on Friday.
The Republican deputy Senate majority leader from Syracuse was endorsed by the GOP committee heads of Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Delaware, Jefferson, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida and Tioga counties. He was endorsed by Onondaga County GOP Chairman Tom Dadey earlier this week.
"With unemployment rising across our state, corruption scandals playing out in courtrooms and more people leaving our state than coming to it, its clear now, more than ever, that we need a change in Albany," said Oneida County Republican Chairman Pete Sobel. "John DeFrancisco has been a strong voice for fiscal responsibility in the State Senate and an advocate for upstate New York. Under his leadership, I am confident New York State will once again become the Empire State. I proudly endorse John DeFrancisco for Governor."
DeFrancisco announced his bid to challenge Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Jan. 30. He was previously joining two other candidates vying for the Republican nomination. State Assemblyman Brian Kolb, from Canandaigua, announced on Friday he was suspending his campaign. Former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra is also a Republican candidate.
