Delles Corner Store in Solvay uses sign to make people smile amid coronavirus anxiety
SOLVAY, N.Y. — Delles Corner Store in Solvay is using the sign outside of its store to try and make people smile amid lots of anxiety and fear during the coronavirus pandemic.
Morgan Delles, the store's manager, says that she's been filling the sign for the past 10 years and started using it to have some fun to set their store apart from the rest.
"I find my inspiration from anywhere online to signs that I see in stores to things that people tell me that they've heard or come up with and think are funny," Delles says. "I don't discriminate, if you'd like to submit something I'd be more than happy to put that on for you as well, I just like to make people smile and try and have them remember us."
The sign has two sides with jokes related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Delles says she changes the sign about once a month and decided to do something coronavirus-related to help people laugh during an uncertain time.
She says that she's gotten lots of positive feedback, but there have been two people who don't think she should be making light of the coronavirus situation.
However, to them, Delles says "unfortunately, there's nothing else you can do at this time - so you might as well laugh."
