Deputies: Romulus man trapped neighbor's dog in steel box for 8 hours
Romulus, N.Y. (WHAM) - Deputies with the Seneca County Sheriff's Office said they arrested a Romulus man for torturing a dog over the weekend.
On Saturday, deputies were called to a home on Iron Bridge Road around 8:15 p.m. for the report of animal cruelty.
Deputies found Jeffrey Vanhorn, 59, had trapped his neighbor's 2-year-old black lab mix in an enclosed steel box for more than eight hours. Temperatures on Saturday were above 90 degrees.
Deputies said they freed the dog, which has since recovered.
Vanhorn was arrested and charged with torturing an animal. He was given an appearance ticket and is scheduled to be back in court on July 27.
