2 people shot on Syracuse's south side

Reports of a shooting on South Salina St. and Wood Ave (CNYCentral).

Syracuse Police are investigating a shooting on the south side of Syracuse. Syracuse police said two adults, one man and one woman, were taken to Upstate University Hospital with injuries.

It happened on along the 2000 block of South Salina Street near Wood Avenue around 7:45 p.m. Syracuse police and ambulance responded to the scene which is not far from the post office and Beauchamp Library.

911 has not released further details. Our crew on scene said police have been talking to witnesses and people who work in the area. Shell case markings can be seen in the street close to a nearby store.

Jaymel Mike Fulton, whose grandfather lives in the shooting scene, was riding his bike near the area Monday night. Fulton says he is sick and tired of city violence and is calling on the community to spread positive messages to the younger generation. He wants to see more people stepping up as role models and spreading unity. “I’m a little concerned because this is my home, a lot of my cousins, my family walk these streets. It’s snowing outside. Kids should be sledding, having fun and building snowmen," Fulton told CNYCentral. "They should not have to worry about bullets, they should not have to worry about their life.”

Police have not released the age of the two people shot. They have not said how many times they were shot or the extent of their injuries.
