ESPN's College GameDay cancels Syracuse broadcast this weekend

The cancellation comes following the news that Coach Jim Boeheim was involved in a deadly crash late Wednesday night (CNYCentral photo).

ESPN’s College GameDay has cancelled its planned broadcast from the Carrier Dome, CNYCentral has confirmed.

The cancellation comes following the news that Coach Jim Boeheim was involved in a deadly crash late Wednesday night.

"Due to the recent tragedy, and after careful consideration due to the celebratory nature of the show, ESPN’s College GameDay will originate from ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., this weekend, instead of at Syracuse University. We spoke with school officials and they understand the decision," ESPN said in a statement.

GameDay was planning to broadcast live from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday ahead of Syracuse men’s basketball game against the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils.

The College GameDay bus arrived in Syracuse Thursday at the Press Room Pub for fans to see, just hours before ESPN canceled the Syracuse broadcast.
