First sign of winter, results in more than 40 crashes in Syracuse
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Syracuse Police investigated over 40 crashes taking place in Syracuse on Friday, after a light snow fall.
Accidents occurred between 5 a.m. and noon, with 30 of them taking place between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., according to Syracuse Police.
Police said minor injuries were the result of some accidents, but most just included damage to the vehicles involved.
Six other crashes occurred Friday in the city, but were not weather related police said.
According to police, the average number of crashes during the same time period when weather is not a factor, is about 14.
Syracuse Police ask the public to be conscious of the weather conditions now that the winter season is upon us. They say to make sure to leave in plenty of time for your destination depending on the weather conditions, and to keep a comfortable distance from the vehicle in front of you in order to stop quickly if needed.
