According to New York State Police, the Florida man found in North Syracuse with a missing Florida teen, had a special connection to the central New York area.

Rian Rodriguez, 27, had spent summers in Cicero, and the greater central New York area, troopers said.

"He spent two summers up here. His comment to us was 'just like Florida there's a lot of friendly people here', and he felt Syracuse was a lot like Florida, and that he could find some time to spend here," Trooper Jack Keller said.

Rodriguez was taken into custody at gunpoint without incident, after his car was pinned by State Police on Friday. His red Mercury was spotted by State Police on South Bay Road near the Subway parking lot.

17-year-old Caitlyn Frisina willingly cooperated with State Police, and troopers said she had no health issues. Her family has been notified.

Rodriguez is currently being lodged on the fugitive warrant that was issued by Columbia County in Florida.

He is Frisina's father's assistant soccer coach. Frisina was originally reported missing on Sunday.

Florida authorities tell us a red Mercury with Caitlyn and Rian Rodriguez inside, was spotted and stopped by New York State Police on South Bay Road near the Subway parking lot.
