Former customers of Prestige Limo share experiences

SCHOHARIE, N.Y. (WRGB) - In the days following the Schoharie crash, we continue to see messages come in to the CBS 6 newsroom from others who utilized Prestige Limousine and had frightening results.

"I immediately said, ‘This is the limo that we used,'" said Stacey Carr.

Carr says she and the rest of the bridal party didn't want to bother their friend Ryan, the bride, on her special day back in June with the horrible experience they had driving to her ceremony.

"We were switching lanes, and when we went over that hump, the inside of part of the interior fell off onto one of the bridesmaids," said Carr.

Carr describes the limo as dingy on the outside, and hot on the inside from the lack of working air conditioning.

When she learned that same limo crashed on Saturday with 18 people inside, her heart sunk.

"At first you're in shock, because you're like, 'That could have been me,' and then you just think of what could I have done to prevent this,” Carr said.

"It really was the only regret we had about that day," said Ryan, the bride.

Ryan requested that we not use her last name.

"I had seen it from the outside and it was in terrible condition," she said. "It wasn't the limo that was on the website. It wasn't what was advertised at all."

She says her wedding was on a prom weekend, and when she called Saratoga Luxury Limousine, they were the most accommodating. But then, she got an invoice, with a different company name - never Prestige Limousine, which the company most recently re-branded to.

"This is supposed to be a company I can trust, supposed to be a limo I can trust,” she said. “I shouldn't have to ask about licenses and inspections, I should just be able to trust [these] people."

Ryan advises others in her situation now to ask about these things - especially after seeing something she fears could have happened to her loved ones.

"It's heartbreaking, it's heartbreaking that I put, unknowingly, 17 of my close friends and family in that same limo."

Ryan tells us she hopes the company never runs again.

Prestige Limousine has at this time taken all of its vehicles out of service.
