Former NYS Thruway toll collector accused of stealing
A Herkimer man is accused of stealing money while working to collect tolls on the New York State Thruway.
State Police arrested David E. Hidalgo, 32. He is accused of stealing $3,642 from the New York State Thruway Authority while he was employed as a toll collector from June through November of 2018. According to police, the theft was discovered during an audit of tolls conducted by the Thruway Authority.
Hidalgo is charged with grand larceny (4th degree), offering a false Instrument for filing (1st degree) and petit larceny (a misdemeanor). He was taken to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of bail and is scheduled to appear in the village of Herkimer Court on Monday, December 10th.
