Four arrested, accused of "spotlighting" deer in Floyd

Four people are arrested in Oneida County, accused of shining their headlights on deer -- to make them easier targets to shoot.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the intersection of Soule and Edwards Road just after 2 a.m. Friday, on a report that shots were fired.

That's when they found Morgan Weiler, 20, of Floyd driving around. Weiler told investigators she was with three other men, "spotlighting" deer in the area. Two of the men were found in the woods.

According to investigators, Joshua Tanner, 22, of Floyd, shot from inside the vehicle at a deer in the field just off the roadway.

All four were charged with conspiracy in the sixth degree, and face several other Environmental Conservation citations from the Department of Environmental Conservation.

Deputies continue to investigate.
