SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse University freshman from states considered COVID-19 hotspots arrived just over two weeks ago to begin their mandatory quarantine. On Sunday, their quarantine ended.
One group of freshman decided to make the walk to Marshall Street for their first post-quarantine outing. The area is a popular area for S.U. students, offering food, Orange apparel, and more.
The group said quarantining in their dorms was an “interesting” experience and admitted it wasn’t exactly how they pictured college. But Sunday evening, they were positive about the experience so far and say they’ve tried to make the most of it.
That positive attitude is the same one they’re applying to their first night out.
“We're just playing it by ear, just exploring since it’s our first day out. Nothing specific planned right now. We'll just see where the night takes us,” said Morgan Lewis, one of the freshman.
This week, the rest of the student body using on-campus housing is expected to arrive ahead of classes officially starting next week.
