Friday's the deadline to sign up for the Senior Nutrition Fair
Food is for more than filling you up, it can also affect your moods. This is an especial concern for seniors, who often become isolated. Studies indicate that people, like seniors, who eat alone tend not to eat well, which can lead to depression and sometimes more serious mental illness.
Senior Centers in the area offer low-cost meals, which include activities and companionship to ease loneliness. We visited the Town of Onondaga's Senior Center for this story, and found not only food, but lots of people who came for games, book clubs and just to talk...
Onondaga County is also doing a Food and Health Expo on Saturday, March 23rd. 10am to noon. Over 70 vendors will be at the CNY Regional Market's F Shed (between NBT Bank Stadium & DestinyUSA) It is free, however signup is requested, at ongov.net/aging by this Friday (March 15th)
